My Everyday Make-up

So here I am, tired as usual, without an ounce of makeup on. (EEEE!)

These are the products I use the most often on normal days.

And these are my most used brushes.

The first thing I do is apply foundation. Some days I will use a heavier foundation and concealer for a more flawless look, but most days I just stick with this. I also use matte powder (that I forgot to take a picture of).

Next I do eyes. I put shade (1) all over my lids. Its a very neutral/muted pink. Next I use shade (2) and blend it into my crease and outer V using a fluffy blending brush. Lastly, I take shade (3) and apply it to my brow bone and inner corner to highlight my eyes.

Now I do the eyeliner. A lot of days I
will use liquid but recently I've liked using a pencil. I apply it to my upper lash line.
Finally, mascara. And then I'm done!

Soooo, I actually forgot to take a picture when my makeup was complete, but this picture was taken a few days ago and I'm wearing the same makeup look. I don't do much on school days, and I might not be doing the "right" things for my face, but that's it! My everyday makeup look! Xoxo, Kyla.

Life

I wanted to make this post to kind of update everyone. I have been super crappy about posting lately but I want people to know that I am still 100% committed to my blog. For the past 2 months I have been a part of my school's musical, and my track season just started- it's been crazy. But with the musical ending this weekend, I will be getting down to business. I want to liven up my blog and make some really creative posts, and I don't want to go more than 2 days without posting. Sorry this was so boring!! Xoxo, Kyla

Oh! P.S, I might be getting a hedgehog.. does anyone else think that is super cool?!?

Mini Target Haul!

So yesterday I went to target to get some new leggings.. I ended up leaving with no leggings and instead I got a couple random items that were on sale (ha, no surprise there). I only got 4 things but I thought I would make a post anyways.

First I got this necklace that I L O V E. I've been wearing a ton of necklaces lately so I figured it wouldn't hurt to get one more.

I have heard a lot of good things about this lipstick, so I decided to try one. I don't know why I got a color that is so out of my comfort zone, but I think it will look really nice with simple eye makeup.
The shade is 900 Hot Plum

Okay, I am SO excited for this nail polish. I love the brownish-grey color, I think it's definitely a winter color but hey, there's still a good 2 months of winter left here in Colorado. (Which I'm not too happy about)

Lastly, I got this eyeshadow primer. I don't know why I got it, I know Elf products aren't great. But it was a dollar. One dollar. So I guess that was reason enough for me to get it.

I hope everyone enjoyed this post, I'm thinking about doing a make-up "tutorial" using that new lipstick so keep an eye out for that. Xoxo, Kyla.

Biolage Exquisite Oil Review

I know I haven't made a post in a few days, I've been extremely busy ): I am very very sorry! But anyways, I recently got the Biolage Exquisite Oil Moringa Oil Blend (say that 5 times fast), so I decided to make a review in case anyone had seen it or had thought of trying it out. It's basically supposed to be an oil you use in your hair after washing it that will repair and protect your hair. Easier said than done. Despite my doubts however, I'm actually pretty impressed with this product. It's no miracle product, but it does make my hair super soft, and definitely doesn't weigh my hair down as long as I don't apply it too close to my roots. One setback it the partially open lid, I'm positive this would leak while travelling if it wasn't put into another bag. It's also quite expensive, I got mine on sale for 18$. But it does last a long time as you only use a drop or two each time. Bottom line, I would suggest this product especially to people who use heat on their hair and want to prevent breaking as much as possible. If you are willing to spend the money, it's a great product and you should get lots of use out of it.
Hope this was helpful! Xoxo, Kyla

Liebster Award!

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by stephlui! So here are the questions Stephanie asked me! :)
1. Which clothing brand will you always go for, no matter what?
H&M. I know this is more of a store than a brand, but I love everything there and I can always find some amazing items.

                                   2. Top 5 favorite makeup products! and why?
Surprisingly I haven't tried out as many make-up products as someone might think (I like to find a product and stick with it) but here are some of my favorites.
1. Covergirl tru-blend foundation
2. Revlon Just Bitten lip stain
3. All 3 Urban Decay Naked Palettes (duh)
4. Sonia Kashuk Brightening powder
5. C.O. Bigelow Menthol Peppermint lip gloss

                                   3. Describe what paradise is to you.
Well of course the classic lying on a beach in Dubai or Bora Bora sounds amazing, but to me paradise is a beautiful city filled with shopping and good restaurants, and tons of culture. I love exploring new cities!

                                  4. What's in your bag right now?
A few notebooks for school, Ibuprofen, cough drops, lip gloss, a pencil, headphones, and a water bottle.

                                  5. Which places would you love to travel to?
-Everywhere in Europe, it is definitely my favorite place to visit. But I would also love to go to Japan, Thailand, Dubai, Australia and Hawaii. In the U.S I want to travel to Chicago, Seattle and LA.

                                 6. One quote you always live by.
"I think there is beauty in everything. What 'normal' people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it" -Alexander McQueen

                                7. One thing you will never wear, and why?
I don't think there is one thing I will never wear, because trends are always changing (unless it is bedazzled, I won't be caught dead in bedazzles). But there are some things that I just don't like, and might never like. One item I doubt I will ever wear again (these were very popular when I was ten, and I had plenty) is a denim skirt. I don't know what it is about them, I just don't find them flattering or attractive. Now trust me, I love denim right now. Shirts, jackets, vests. But I can't seem do it in a skirt. Maybe one day my mind will be changed by a gorgeous jean skirt, but the odds are slim.

                                8. What are your favorite drinks you will always order?!
                                (ie: cocktail, mocktail, coffee, etc)
Cappuccino's. Always. Definitely my go-to drink. If I want something cold, it's ice water or sprite.

                                9. If you could change one thing about this world. What would it be and why?
Discrimination. I would get rid of all discrimination in the world. Race, gender, sexuality, religion, everything. I can't stand it when someone is either looked down upon or isn't given equal opportunities because they are different in some way. I don't get angry often, especially at people that aren't close to me, but if I see someone discriminating against a person because of who they are, I will always speak up.
                                 10. Tell me one weird fact about you
I always have my nails painted. It drives me crazy if they have nothing on. Sometimes I won't paint them just so they can stay healthy and breathe, but most of the time I have them done. Also, it makes everything more fun! I love changing my nails according to the weather or my outfit.

                               11. If you could treat yourself once a month with anything, what would it be?
(ie. spa, luxury items, makeup, )
I would definitely treat myself to designer items. Bags and shoes are my guilty pleasure, so I wouldn't mind a new LV or pair of Louboutin's once a month!!

I nominate:

The questions I want to ask you are:
1. If you could only wear one make-up product for the rest of your life what would it be and why? (e.g. mascara, lipgloss etc)

2. Who is your favorite high-fashion designer?

3. If you could live anywhere in the entire world where would you go?

4. What cities have you been to? Which was your favorite and why!

5. Who do you look up to?

6. What is your all time favorite piece of clothing and when did you get it?

7. If you could announce one thing to the entire world, what would you say?

8. Who is your celebrity crush?

9. What is your favorite make-up brand?

10. What would you order if you were at a 5 star restaurant and everything was free?

11. And finally, who would you choose to spend a day with if you could pick anyone dead or alive?
(I know its very "middle school essay" but I think it's fun)

The Rules:
-You must link back to the person who nominated.
-You must answer the questions given to you.
-You must pick 11 nominees to answer 11 questions you choose for them.
-You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
-You must tell the nominees that they have been nominated by you.

"Knock Off" American Apparel Disco Pants

I have wanted the American Apparel 'Disco Pants' for quite a while now, but at $85.00 I didn't know if I was ready to commit. So after searching online for what seemed like forever, I found some pants from H&M that looked pretty similar. And even better, they were on sale for 15$.

Besides a few minor details these pants are very close to Disco Pants. I personally love the side panel of softer fabric that the American Apparel ones don't have. They are pretty comfortable but there is a downside, they are definitely not always the most flattering pants. I have most certainly not become completely comfortable in them, but they are great besides that and make for lots of outfit ideas! Xoxo, Kyla

Longing to be at Fashion Week!

New York, London, Milan, Paris. Fashion, Fashion, Fashion. It literally sounds like heaven, and right now I would do just about anything to attend this incredible event. And though I do realize I might not be going to Fashion Week any time soon, that won't stop me from fantasizing! I'm 100% sure I'm not the only girl feeling like this right now, so if you are wearing pajama's in bed and watching the shows from your computer, don't worry. I am right there with you. Xoxo, Kyla

Favorite outerwear styles!

I am in love with outerwear. In love. Jackets, Parkas, Vests, everything. So I came up with a few of my favorites from this winter. ♥

The army-green parka:

        Sheinside.com                                                  Cichic.com

These are so cute and versatile. You can wear these jackets with so many outfits and look super chic without a lot of effort. And they look soft enough to nap in. Basically, I can't find a flaw!

The Peacoat:

      Urban Outfitters                        Victoria's Secret

Peacoats are great because you can wear them with jeans and a scarf or with a dress and look sophisticated either way. They are so classy and cute, I wear mine almost every day. And they look great in SO many colors. I like simple black ones, but you could get maroon, green, or white and it would look amazing!

The Fur (Faux) Coat:

Thread&Supply Nordstrom           Topshop

I know that not everyone loves these, but I want one so so so badly. I've seen them all over the place in 2013, on celebrities and on the runway. They look so chic and not to mention cozy. I think it would be more difficult to pull one of these jackets off, but with a little time and thought the cutest outfit could be made. Basically they feel like a kitten and look expensive, what's not to love??

Those are all of my fave styles from this winter, hope it gave some inspiration :) Xoxo, Kyla

Revlon Nearly Naked Review!♥

Before I actually tried this product, I heard SO many good things about it. I needed a new daytime foundation so I thought I would try it. And I am so happy I did, it's AMAZING. It has such a light and creamy texture, and stays on my face for most of the day with no touch-ups. I also love how natural it looks while giving a light to medium coverage. The only thing I don't like very much, is that I have to apply it with my fingers. If I use a foundation brush it looks a little streaky and just not as smooth. But overall I love this product and have been using it nearly every day since I got it. It comes in 16 shades, and I use the shade 120 Vanilla. If you aren't sure of your color, the website has a "shade finder" that is super helpful!

Shedding the winter "when did this happen?" lbs!

Spring is coming, and as much as that excites me, I've been faced with a harsh reality- My diet went crazy this winter. I mean who can resist warm, delicious, comfort food when it's dumping snow outside? And honestly, who has the energy to go to the gym every night when the sun goes down at 5:30?? Definitely not me. But now that it's getting warmer, I can't hide under my oversized sweaters and leggings. I am determined to get my bod back. So I thought I would share the ways I get back into shape and stay healthy, just in case any of you are going through the same realizations that I am.
What I eat:
-On weekdays, I rarely have time to make a real breakfast, but if you have the time, oatmeal with berries or yogurt are my favorites. If I don't have time, I'll have an apple or banana.
-Lunch, not my favorite meal time. I'm so limited since I usually don't have a lot of time. A salad is my go-to lunch on weekdays, but some left overs from the night before is also quick and easy (and hopefully healthy)
-For snacks, I love Kind granola bars, fruit, or carrots and hummus. Really anything small and under about 200 calories is fine, but something packed full of nutrients will keep you full until dinner.
-Dinner: Always tough for me because I come home craving so many different foods. Try something like grilled chicken, fish or tofu, with rice or quinoa and a vegetable. Your plate should be half vegetables or greens, one quarter grains and one quarter protein. A tip for eating less? Use dark colored plates (you will generally put less food on your plate) and eat slowly. If you scarf it all down in 5 minutes, your brain doesn't even have time to tell you when you're full.
Exercise:
I love running, but it's still a little too cold where I live for early morning runs. I try to go to the gym 2-4 times a week. I run on the track or use the elliptical, and then do abs and arm workouts. If I don't have time to go to the gym, I still like to get some exercise in. I will do circuit training in my house- things like jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and jump rope for cardio. I've also been loving Blogilates. Cassey is a great motivator and her videos are super fun and challenging. I try to do one ab video followed by either a leg or arm video.

I'm obviously not a trainer or health professional, but this is what I do to get ready for bikini season! If this helps at least one person I'll be happy, Xoxo, Kyla

Current Obsession: Plaid Skirts

Recently I've seen a lot of "school girl" outfits that consist of plaid skirts, loose white tops, and of course, black knee highs. I LOVE it. I am obsessed with this style, and you can work it so many ways. You can keep it simple and classic-looking like Cher from Clueless (love), or change it up by adding new and modern pieces. I've also seen many variations of the plaid skirt, we aren't sticking to just the uniform shape. Plaid body-con skirts, Knee length skirts, and even some skorts- I never thought I would consider wearing one of those again. Overall, the look is adorable and I think it will be everywhere in the coming season.
Where you can get one:
Topshop- "Red pleated tartan kilt" $76.00
Brandy Melville- "Kaitlee Skirt" $29.00
Forever21- "Retro Plaid pencil skirt" $17.80

Is anyone else obsessed with this style? Xoxo, Kyla
